MUSEUMS - ATTRACTIONS - HERITAGE - FUNDING - GOVERNMENT The Western Australia Government has made a significant financial commitment to build a new museum within the revitalised Perth Cultural Centre. Over the next seven years, the WA Museum will be transformed into a new state-of-the-art museum, integrating with the Museum’s current heritage buildings, showcasing Western Australia to the world and including the State's heritage, history and incredible biodiversity. Situated in the heart of Perth, the new WA Museum will be the flagship museum for Western Australia where visitors will explore their identity, culture and sense of place. WA Treasurer Christian Porter and WA Minister for Culture and the Arts John Day announced the Western Australian Government's commitment to build a new museum through allocated funding on International Museum Day. With an estimated project cost of $428.3 million, construction is estimated to be completed in 2019-20.
