Commercial Lead - Home of the Commonwealth Bank Matildas at La Trobe University, Bundoora in Victoria (HoTM), jointly reporting into Football Australia and Football Victoria.

About the job
Football Australia (FA) is the national governing body for football in Australia, situated on the lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We acknowledge the histories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and commit to building a brighter future together.

Football has entered the most important and transformational period in its history. Having weathered COVID through 2020 and 2021, Football is pursuing its bold ambition through its 15-year vision embodied by the XI Principles for the future of Australian Football.

Principle X of the XI Principles aspires for Australia to become the centre of women’s football in the Asia-Pacific region, with greater emphasis being placed on creating and shaping an environment which promotes participation of women in football.

Within this, Football Australia has set a target of 50:50 gender balance by 2026 by creating a dynamic environment that includes the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™and the new world class Home of the Matildas (HoTM) facility at La Trobe University, Bundoora.

Football Australia (FA) and Football Victoria (FV) have established a HoTM project to bring to life the world class project and the finest women’s football precinct of its generation, in time to welcome the 32 countries to Australia’s shores for the largest women’s sporting event in the world. Construction of the HoTM at La Trobe University, Bundoora is now underway, and expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2023.

In May 2021, the Victorian Government announced a $101.1m investment to make the world-class HoTM at La Trobe University, Bundoora, a reality.

This announcement, following the 2020 commitment of $15 million from the Federal Government, green lit construction of the HoTM and Home to Football Victoria, within a purpose built, state-of-the-art national training centre for the Commonwealth Bank Matildas and a State Football Centre, alongside a State Rugby Union Centre at La Trobe University, Bundoora.

The precinct will be ready to receive the Commonwealth Bank Matildas in advance of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™, an event being staged on our shores for the very first time.

The historic announcement was three years in the making, with Football Australia and Football Victoria partnering to drive the project with the support of the Victorian State Government since 2018.
