Our pool network across Wellington City can't operate without our frontline Lifeguards, playing a key role in helping people in our communities get the most out of our venues and have a safe, enjoyable experience.

This is a job that really does make a difference to your community. We have fun and support our community by keeping them safe.

Forget your preconceptions of what a lifeguard looks like - you just need to be a confident swimmer and be great with people.

We provide all the training necessary!

As a minimum you'll gain the following qualifications:

• First Aid Level 2 Certificate
• Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate - as an up and coming lifeguard, training will be delivered and assessed on-the-job at the pool. 
• You'll benefit from being part of an organisation that grows it's people. 

You'll work in a stimulating environment, as well as receive full training and have plenty of development opportunities - lifeguards have the opportunity to progress to Assistant Duty Manager and Duty Manager roles as part of their recreation career pathway.

We have locations across Wellington City:

• Kilbirnie (Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre)
• Oriental Bay (Freyberg Pool)
• Karori
• Johnsonville (Keith Spry Pool)
• Tawa
• Khandallah 
• Thorndon
