About the Pool
Benalla Aquatic Centre is owned by Benalla Rural City and managed by YMCA Victoria. We run over 50 group fitness classes each week, offer swimming lessons to children of all ages and abilities, and provide individual training to help you reach your health and fitness goals. Our friendly team are highly qualified and they have the experience to help you reach your training goals – whatever they may be. Our staff are there for you. Benalla Aquatic Centre welcomes members and visitors to use our range of facilities and services.
About you
We are seeking motivated, organised and pro-active team members to come and join the team. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and all facility users. Other requirements are:
• Ability to make decisions while under pressure
• Being able to manage conflicts with patrons and users
• Ability to stay alert and vigilant in a repetitive work environment
• Ability to multitask
• Providing excellent customer service for all members and guests
• Experience in the Aquatics and Leisure industry will be highly regarded
• First Aid and CPR certificates
• Willingness to undertake a Police Check and Working with Children Check

About the roles
With casual roles available across all YMCA Victoria outdoor pools over the summer period (October 2022 - March 2023), you’ll help provide a safe swimming environment for all centre visitors. You’ll be patient, focused and friendly to keep pool-users informed and safe.
Duty Managers (casual rates starting at $35.60 per hour):
You will have delegated authority of the Centre Manager, and maintain a broad knowledge of centre programs and services whilst at the same time managing a range of centre functions whilst on shift. For this role you will require a Pool Lifeguard qualification (funding may be available to help you obtain this qualification). First Aid and CPR certificates are also required. In keeping with current Victorian health directions it is a requirement that you are fully vaccinated for this role.
Pool Lifeguards (casual rates starting at $29.44 per hour):
You will supervise a large aquatic space while pro-actively ensuring a safe environment in and around the pool area. For this role you will require a Pool Lifeguard qualification (funding may be available to help you obtain this qualification). First Aid and CPR certificates are also required. In keeping with current Victorian health directions it is a requirement that you are fully vaccinated for this role.
Swimming Teachers (casual rates starting at $29.44 per hour):
You will develop and deliver lesson plans that promote swimming skill building in school aged children, combining stroke development with water safety and enhancing the overall confidence and ability of your students. For this role you will require a Swim Teacher qualification (funding may be available to help you obtain this qualification). CPR certificate is also required.
