We are looking for a Venues superstar to join our busy and passionate team on a permanent full-time basis to embed change from our transformation project whilst maintaining quality ‘day to day' service delivery.

About the Business:
The Venues and Events Services team manage some of Invercargill's most iconic venues including the Civic Theatre, the Scottish Hall, and Rugby Park. The Civic Theatre complex provides a quality theatre and associated facilities for hire and is a popular venue for local and national organisations. The Scottish Hall provides a much loved venue for celebrations and community endeavour, and Rugby Park hosts all the action from provincial Rugby and beyond. With significant growth in the business and redevelopment at Rugby Park there are plenty of exciting opportunities for an experienced venues manager to shape the future of events in Invercargill.

About the Role:
Reporting to the Manager - Business Transition (Venues and Events), you will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and guidance of the Venues and Event Services team ensuring change and business improvement plans are implemented and monitored. This will include ensuring the business meets performance targets and continues to adapt and meet the needs of customers, clients and patrons whist working closely with other departments to ensure the smooth running of the Civic Theatre, Scottish Hall and Rugby Park.

This role requires an exceptionally hands on, motivational manager who will work side by side with their team, ensuring standards and service are delivered consistently, providing a first-class service to all of our guests & clients.

This role will lead the implementation of agreed business improvement initiatives ensuring business processes are well documented and the strategic direction and momentum maintained.

Skills and Experience:

  • Be a hands on & an effective business manager with experience in managing a multi-faceted venue.
  • A pro-active and innovative leader that can not only achieve results but also inspire your team to push just as hard as you.
  • Strong relationship builder to effortlessly create amazing experiences for our corporate & social group bookings.
  • An astute operator with strong skills in the effective financial management across multiple venues.
  • Passionate about guest experience & ensuring everyone leaves your venue smiling.
  • A true partner that can make themselves indispensable to the team.

You will hold a tertiary qualification in Business, Venue or Event Management with ideally a minimum of five years in a senior leadership position within a Venues and/or Events focused organisation. Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation, project management experience and leading, encouraging and managing staff is also essential.

This position will deal with a variety of people including clients and other ICC team members, therefore your excellent communication skills will also be put to good use. You will be well organised and eager to learn new things. Most importantly you will love working as part of a tight knit team who work together to get the job done, and have a laugh while doing it!
