read moreFairfield City Council’s much anticipated $14.3 million wave pool at the Aquatopia water park at Prairiewood Leisure Centre has opened.
The wave pool is an exciting addition to the Aquatopia water park and is funded by Fairfield City Council and the Federal and NSW Governments through the Western Sydney City Deal Liveability Fund.
The wave pool has been developed by the Council so that Fairfield and South Western Sydney families will no longer have to travel long distances in the heat of summer to the coast in search of waves as the impressive 55-metre wave pool delivers an “exciting taste of the beach” with never seen before breakable surf waves and a beach party carnival atmosphere.
Adding to the many family-fun recreational opportunities at the expanding Aquatopia, the Council has also installed more cabanas and palm trees and umbrellas alongside the wave pool.
There is also a covered stage area for family outdoor events such as moonlight cinemas.
The 55 metre, $12 million wave pool (which makes use of Ultrafine pool salt) from Swimplex is designed to emulate the enjoyment of a visit to the beach, from the textured saltwater, to the crashing waves and can be used by all ages who can learn to ride the waves on surf or boogie boards.
