read moreVictorian ski-resort Mt Buller has advised that, in preparation for the 2021 winter season, it has commenced "making lots of snow".
Counting down to the eagerly-awaited start of the snow season, the snow making follows the mountain receiving a second snowfall in as many weeks, described as a “teaser” for skiers and snowboarders impatient to get back on the slopes.
In an announcement, Mt Buller management advised “the cold snap brought a light cover of fresh snow earlier this week and Mt Buller’s ‘SnowFactory’ is helping out with huge mounds of snow now taking shape on the Bourke Street ski run.
“The Queen’s Birthday weekend (12th to 14th June) is when snow-lovers celebrate the beginning of the snow season however Mt Buller is pulling out all stops to stockpile snow and get guests sliding earlier if conditions allow.
“Mt Buller’s SnowFactories can make snow in any conditions and produce up to 330 metre³ of snow per day, building an important stockpile to build a base for skiing, boarding and snowplay.
“Resort staff are busy with winter preparations and eager to welcome guests back to the slopes. Many alpine businesses are on the hunt for workers with numerous positions available for chefs, cleaners, retail, maintenance and administration.
“Mt Buller is seeing very strong forward bookings and is urging anyone keen to get to the snow this winter to make reservations early to avoid disappointment.”
This weekend marks the final days of the summer mountain bike season with the Blue Dirt BlowOut event taking place on the trails and the last days of shuttle services before they close for the winter.
