Acknowledging health and togetherness across the world, from a sunrise opening ceremony on the island of Fiji, to the closing ceremony on the island of Maui, across all five continents, a total of nearly 9,000 wellness, sports, tourism and hospitality professionals will open their doors to the public, offering immersive wellness activities, classes and workshops - all for free.
New global partnerships - such as World Cleanup Day, Art Impact for Health & SDGs (WHO), Endurance Zone, WithU, Nutrition Beyond Borders (NSF), Myndstream, European Week of Sports, and International Week of Happiness at Work - will help to raise global awareness for the joy of wellness.
In addition, 240 volunteering ambassadors and wellness leaders will support the initiative promoting the United Nations’ objective of ‘Good Health and Wellbeing for All’.
World Wellness Weekend’s smart-map in 18 languages helps people find fun, free and inclusive group sessions indoors, as well as recreational outdoor activities offered by fitness clubs, yoga studios, spas, salons, hot springs, hotels, resorts and wellness centre.
Across the world, highlights of planned wellness activities include:
In Spain, over 1,000 venues are participating. An epic event this year will be the creation of the ‘Wellness Park’ in Marbella. With non-stop yoga and Pilates, dance classes, reiki and massages, golf baptisms, as well as talks and a fashion show on sustainable clothing, the Wellness Park will be a celebration of all things wellness.
In the UK, 144 establishments are opening their doors, including all David Lloyd Clubs, award-winning Carden Park, Lucknam Park, Galgorm, Banya n°1, AIRE Ancient baths, Salsateca, offering fun, free, inclusive and purposeful activities to enrich people's lives and bring them together.
In Argentina, 226 properties are preparing events nationwide. From free classes on yoga, Zumba, and stretching, to talks and demonstrations on conscious eating, mindfulness and skin care. In Buenos Aires, participants will be encouraged to donate non-perishable food to the Help the Children's Foundation, whereas the Wellness Beats programme in Don Torcuato will call for a 1k family walk for the community, raising awareness of the importance of blood donation to save lives.
In Canada 107 venues will participate, especially in Winnipeg (most active city in 2023) with yoga, fitness, qi gong and meditation in spas and fitness clubs.
Launched in 2017, World Wellness Weekend is a global non-profit event aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal: Good Health & Well-being For All.
With the belief that Social Prescribing is a true catalyst to promote healthy lifestyle choices, it offers a location, an activity and a community to citizens of the world to come together and practice wellness.
As World Wellness Weekend founder, Jean-Guy de Gabriac explains “WWW aims to provide immersive and transformative wellness experiences. Our mission is to help millions of people become the best version of themselves, and also socialise in meaningful ways with their local communities so that we can live better together.”
