The integration of IPICO will expand on ACTIVE’s real-time, on-site capabilities and provide a comprehensive solution that includes registration, marketing, timing, data, analytics, and insights that are needed by timing managers and event organisers to make business decisions, increase participation, and drive growth of their events.
Explaining the acquisition, ACTIVE Network Chief Executive Darko Dejanovic stated “our strategy is clear – ACTIVE is expanding our offerings throughout the event lifecycle to give our customers access to technology and data at every step of their event.
“At the same time, ACTIVE is transforming into a data insights company that offers unparalleled business intelligence to our customers.
“Acquiring IPICO enables ACTIVE to offer a fully integrated, comprehensive solution, and allows our customers to have unprecedented access to data and to process transactions and payments throughout the event lifecycle.”
ACTIVE has a long and established history of processing transactions and facilitating payments for events and activities through its leading SaaS technology.
ACTIVE processed nearly US$3 billion of participant transactions on behalf of its customers in 2014.
Acquiring IPICO and continuing to invest in onsite technologies allows ACTIVE to support its customers before, during and after the event experience. ACTIVE’s plan includes offering timers and event organisers leading timing technology as well as building functionality to safely and securely accept payments at their events, without the hassle of collecting cash or managing multiple payment systems.
In utilising recent developments in ‘wearable technology,’ ACTIVE also plans to expand the uses of the chip beyond timing, to eventually include cashless payment, access control and spectator engagement.
IPICO is a leading, global provider of race timing technology and in 2014 supported over 9,000 events, collecting approximately 13 million individual results in over 50 countries.
ACTIVE Network® is the leader in Activity and Participant Management™ and data solutions powering over 47,000 customers worldwide with SaaS technology that streamlines activity and event administration.
