Whitehorse Mayor Philip Daw says the award means Aqualink Box Hill now joined an exclusive club of just 16 Victorian aquatic facilities currently holding the accreditation.
Mayor Daw stated “Platinum Pool status is awarded to aquatic facilities that provide outstanding levels of safety. To achieve the award Aqualink Box Hill had to undertake a rigorous series of assessments to ensure it met all of LSV’s criteria for the accreditation.”
The award is a way of recognising facilities that have attained the highest standards in the provision of aquatic safety and risk management. Facilities undergo a thorough assessment of their skills and performance and gain the award by attaining a high standard throughout.
Mayor Daw added “LSV is very selective when awarding Platinum Pool accreditation so this marks a major success for Aqualink Box Hill and its staff. The assessment process includes ‘mystery guest visits’ and adherence to the best practice ‘Watch Around Water’ child supervision program.”
The receipt of Platinum Pool accreditation is recognised as a sign of excellence within the industry.
Facilities that qualify for the Platinum Pool award are certified and provided with internal materials within the facility. The accreditation is valid for 12 months and forms an important component of the facility’s overall safety planning and continual improvement strategy.
