Arts Tasmania continues to support cultural heritage organisations and activities

Arts Tasmania continues to support cultural heritage organisations and activities
December 29, 2021

The latest Arts Tasmania funding rounds for cultural heritage organisations will see $465,000 in grants distributed to 11 museums, collections, and galleries across the State to enable the delivery of diverse and exciting activities in 2022-23.

Supported activities include:

  • multi-year funding of $80,000 per annum (2022-23 and 2023-24) for the Central Coast Council towards the operations of the newly developed Ulverstone Museum and Art Gallery in North West Tasmania;
  • funding for the Wool Centre Museum in Ross to employ a Museum Officer to contribute to the effective management of its collection, while also contributing to the delivery of a range of community engagement activities in 2022-23;
  • funding of $4,513 to enable the Galley Museum to develop a publication that showcases the photographs included in its diverse collection; and
  • multi-year funding for the Narryna Heritage Museum in Battery Point to deliver a range of programs that encourage and grow public engagement through the creation of contemporary works that respond to items of significance within the collection.

Tasmanian Minister for the Arts, Elise Archer advised “in addition to funding, 11 organisations will receive a total of 105 days of professional assistance through the Roving Curator program in 2022. This will help them further develop the skills of key personnel, including their many invaluable volunteers.”
