Long serving Group Fitness Instructor Virginia Draper (known as âVâ) has retired from her Tuesday morning Abs, Butts and Thighs class at the Ascot Vale Leisure Centre.
After 22 years of working as a Group Fitness Instructor at the Centre, Virginia, 58, has developed a loyal following to her Tuesday morning class, often drawing up to 30 participants.
Virginiaâs passion for exercise and group fitness started when she was a participant herself, attending regular classes every week. Encouraged by instructors, she qualified and began to teach her own classes.
As Nada Delich, Centre Manager of Ascot Vale Leisure Centre, explains âVâs classes have been some of the highest performing at the centre. The combination of Vâs inspiring nature and her participants achieving their fitness goals, has seen quite a fan club develop.�?
Clark McDonald, an Ascot Vale Leisure Centre member, has been attending Virginiaâs Abs, Butts and Thighs class every week for 13 years, where he didnât even mind being the only male participant, stating âsheâs very informative when she teaches but allows you to have fun and make jokes at the same time- you just feel comfortable in the class and you can relax.�?
Virginiaâs fans can still say âhelloâ to her from time to time, as she will continue her work as Group Fitness Coordinator at the centre, a role she has held for 17 years.
