Aiming to deliver on its aim to develop future female leaders in sport and recreation, the Australian Womensport and Recreation Association (AWRA) will be staging two days of 'Women in Leadership' workshops in Darwin.

Offering women in sport and recreation the chance to invest in themselves so that they and their organisations benefit through better performance, the events are being staged at the on 7th and 8th November.

The workshops will be led by former Australian Sports Commission consultant Henny Oldenhove, backed by local sport stars Bo De La Cruz and Melanie Hall, both of whom are represented Darwin based sport management agency Starwin Management the organisers of the workshops.

Thursday 7th November: Train the Trainer

Only a select number of places are available for women in leadership positions in local sport and recreations associations to undergo training to become an 'AWRA Leadership Workshop Facilitator'.

Friday 8th November: AWRA Leadership in Action

The workshop covers such topics as:
What is leadership?
What are the different leadership styles?
What are the leadership opportunities and pathways in sport and recreation?
Networking
Identifying and using mentors
Effective communications including the media relationship
Managing conflict
Developing a personal plan
