read moreBasketball Australia has this week welcomed three new faces to its Board following elections held at its Annual General Meeting.
Following an exhaustive ballot, Ned Coten, David Reid and Cheryl Hayman were elected as new members, joining Chair Scott Derwin and current Board members Rob Marcolina and Andrew Gaze, who was also re-elected for a further four year term.
Derwin said he was pleased to see the new-look Board continue to boast a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience across numerous sectors, which would further support the growth, development and governance of the sport.
He explained "on behalf of the basketball community, I welcome Ned, David and Cheryl to the Basketball Australia Board, and congratulate Andrew on his re-election.
"This Board brings together a solid package of strong strategic experience across many areas – commercialisation, marketing, risk management, financial and legal expertise, and grassroots game development – all vital to our success as a sport.
"I'd also like to thank outgoing Board members Justin Milne, Gillian McFee and Martin Cleaver for their many years of dedicated service to the game.
"All three have been an invaluable source of counsel and guidance to myself, the Board and the organisation; their profound contribution will continue to leave a lasting impact on Australian basketball."
Derwin thanked the State and Territory bodies for their attendance and participation at this weekend's AGM, adding "basketball in Australia is fortunate to benefit from extremely passionate and committed leaders throughout our State and Territory bodies and associations.
"I thank our States and Territories for their ongoing dedication and hard work to grow our game – not just when we come together for our AGM, but day in and day out – as well as the Australian Sports Commission for their continued support and guidance."
Following last weekend's Board elections, one further unelected position remains to be appointed by the BA Board in due course.
