read moreOne of Queensland's most experienced events marketing executives, Anne-Maree Moon, has been appointed to Brisbane Marketing as Director, Tourism and Major Events.
Moon has spent the past 18 years in arts and entertainment marketing in Brisbane, most recently as Associate Director ACMN Marketing and Advertising where she developed and implemented national marketing strategies for a variety of high profile events and performances.
Previously, she was Director of Marketing and Ticketing, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) where her achievements included developing a nationally-recognised audience development program.
Announcing the appointment Brisbane Marketing Chief Executive John Aitken stated "Anne Maree has a wealth of experience in events and has worked closely with the tourism sector for many years.
"She will work closely with our key partners to drive Brisbane Marketing's Major Events Strategy to support the growth and development of Brisbane's major events calendar through procuring and leveraging major events in Brisbane.
"The Major Events Strategy aims to deliver a $50 milllion economic impact to Brisbane, including 300,000 visitor nights in 2012-13.
"The Major Events Strategy is part of the 2012-2031 Brisbane Economic Development Plan, which emanated from the Lord Mayor's Economic Development Steering Committees Unique Window of Opportunity Report."
Aitken said Moon would also oversee Brisbane Marketing's Leisure Tourism division, working in partnership with industry to increase visitation to Brisbane through two major campaigns a year, adding "Anne-Maree has worked closely with many tourism agencies in leveraging tourism assets and developing highly successful cooperative marketing campaigns.
"Her commercial acumen and ability to develop commercial partnerships, her passion to drive sales and business outcomes, along with her vision for this role will ensure she hits the ground running."
Moon is a director on both the Brisbane Festival and Expressions Dance Company boards.
She will commence her role with Brisbane Marketing on 26th November.
