read moreThe Brisbane Tigers rugby league club is looking to transform the function space at its Easts Leagues Club facility into an Anytime Fitness gym.
The club, formerly the Easts Tigers, last week submitted a development application with the Brisbane City Council to transform the space into a 24-hour, seven days per week commercial gym.
The club, which is aiming to secure a license from the Australian Rugby League Commission to compete in the NRL, is also aiming to include extra gaming space and a sports bar with a designated smoking area as part of a clubhouse extension.
As reported by Brisbane’s South-East Advertiser, Brisbane Tigers Chief Executive, Brian Torpy said the proposal was to provide space within the current leagues club building for the gyms franchise.
Torpy also said the gym would compliment the Langlands Park sporting precinct, which includes theTotally Workwear Stadium and the Langlands Park Memorial Pool by providing a modern health and fitness gym facility for the local community.
He advised “the project planning is progressing and we hope to have the gym operational in early 2022.”
The project will also follow a massive $7 million redevelopment of Langlands Park, which is expected to be complete by 2022.
