Forty visitors endured a scary moment in mid air when the cable cars they were riding suddenly stopped in an amusement park in Shenzhen, the New Express Daily reported.
The accident occurred at 10:20 a.m. last Thursday when passengers visited the Overseas Chinese Town East (OCT East) tourist resort in Shenzhen in south China's Guangdong Province.
The cable cars ground to a halt 70 metres from its destination, leaving 40 people dangling in the air for almost one hour.
The passengers could not return to the ground until the cable cars restarted at 11:15 a.m.
A senior staff member with the amusement park attributed the accident to electrical device malfunction.
The park suspended the cable car service citing bad weather.
It was not the first time accidents took place in this amusement park. A design flaw caused its Space Journey ride to collapse in June this year, killing six passengers and injuring 10 others.
