Call for papers issued for 2022 Auckland IWG World Conference on Women & Sport

Call for papers issued for 2022 Auckland IWG World Conference on Women & Sport
March 18, 2021

Developing the programme for its 2022 conference in Auckland, the International Working Group (IWG) on Women & Sport is inviting case studies, research and content from all over the world.

Over the past six months, more than 150 members in five IWG ‘global Innov8’ programming teams have been working to develop the conference framework which, for the first time in its history, will be delivered as a physical-digital hybrid.

Designed in response to the potential ongoing impacts of COVID-19 on international travel, the format will allow physical presentations in Auckland (which will be broadcast online simultaneously), or presentations on video from a global location through IWG’s new digital hub.

Aiming for all presentations to have a practical application, the conference has five themes and seven conference lenses, with those submitting presentation ideas as asked to choose one of each. With live translation to be offered at-event and online, presentations can be made in English, Spanish, French and sign language with more languages to be added soon.

IWG advise “every participant at the event will be looking for inspirational ideas they can use (so) now is the time to share your story.

“We want to hear about the changes you are making. How did you develop your ideas? How did you apply them? What are you learning? What positive changes happened for women and girls?

“We want to pass your story on, because we believe that ‘Change Inspires Change‘ (and) your changes will inspire everyone’s changes. And we will be weaving everyone’s ideas together to help accelerate positive change worldwide.

“If you are an academic with research or insight to share, we encourage you to submit your presentation idea with a partner that has applied your knowledge, such as a sporting organisation or community group. We want to see how your research was turned into a practical programme of action for women and girls.”

Explaining travel and the conference format, IWG add “we will continue to load information about how to plan your trip to New Zealand and we are anticipating a fantastic global contingent.

“Our hybrid design will bring in voices from all corners of the globe.”

The 2020 IWG World Conference on Women & Sport will be held from 5th to 8th May next year at Auckland’s New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC).
