read moreThis year, Centenary Park Golf Course, located in Frankston southeast Melbourne, is celebrating 50 years at its current location of being a popular golfing destination for both locals and visitors.
Recognised as one of Melbourne’s top public golf courses, Centenary Park Golf Course is also one of the longest, stretching an impressive 6,122 metres. Golfers can enjoy an 18-hole course, an 8-bay open air driving range, lessons with experienced golf instructors (and access to one of the top golf fitters Australia-wide), a well-stocked golf shop, and a café, licensed bar and outdoor deck overlooking the 18th hole.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Centenary Park Golf Course invites the entire community to a Family Fun Day on Sunday, 6th April.
Originally situated in Yuille Street, Frankston - where Frankston Hospital and Pentland Gardens now stand - the course was relocated to its current location in 1974.
For the past 50 years, Centenary Park Golf Course has been a cornerstone of the community, welcoming over one million visitors to its pristine fairways and vibrant atmosphere. From passionate beginners to seasoned professionals, the course has played host to unforgettable moments, including appearances from golf greats like Craig Parry, Peter Senior, Ian Stanley, Bill Britten, and Mike Harwood in Pro Ams and prestigious events.
Beyond the professional spotlight, Centenary Park has been the backdrop for countless locals learning the game, creating lifelong memories with family and friends.
Centenary Park Golf Course has played a vital role in the community, offering more than just a place to play golf. As a public course, it has contributed to improving physical and mental health while fostering strong social connections across the wider Frankston community.
From weekend rounds with ‘Dad and Grandad’ to welcoming more women and diverse groups to the game, Centenary Park Golf Course has evolved over time.
Today, programs such as the successful All Abilities Golfing Program (with pathways to the Special Olympics) and the Tee & Tea ladies' group - where up to 50 women play socially twice a week - highlight the course’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
Centenary Park Golf Course offers the long-time golfer, casual player, and those looking for a fantastic day out with family and friends, the opportunity to join in the 50th birthday celebrations as a lead into the easter School Holidays.
The Centenary Park Golf Course Family Fun Day on Sunday, 6th April, from 10 am – 2 pm will be a FREE event featuring a variety of activities including Face Painting, Mini Golf, Inflatables, Live Music, Local Brewery Pop Up, Photobooth, Food Trucks, Golf Competitions and Prizes.
