To celebrate Children's Day on the first weekend of March, the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves is offering free entry for children.

First opened to the public in 1889 by local Maori Chief Tane Tinorau, 2014 marks the 125 year anniversary of guiding at the caves, during which the attraction has amazed generations of children and adults.

The attraction sees its visitors take a boat trip on which they glide under a canopy of magical glowworms and then tour underground limestone formations with expert guides sharing the rich natural and cultural history of the area.

One of New Zealand's oldest and most inspiring natural wonders, Waitomo Glowworm Caves features stunning geological wonders which suspend from the ceiling and stand tall above the walkways making it one of the country's oldest and most inspiring natural wonders.

The Children's Day offer is available on Saturday 1st March and Sunday 2nd March for children aged 14 years or under.
