read moreTwo City of Logan pools are offering a free swimming and water safety program - Kids Alive Do the Five - this September school holidays to encourage families to refresh their skills in time for summer.
Kids Alive Do the Five will offer local children aged four months to 16 years the opportunity to participate in a week-long swimming and water safety class.
The program will be held at the Logan North Aquatic Centre and Beenleigh Aquatic Centre from 25th to 29th September.
Kids Alive Do the Five was developed by well-known swim coach and water safety educator, Laurie Lawrence, and focuses on providing children with the essential water safety skills to thrive in the water.
Logan City Lifestyle Committee Chair Councillor Tony Hall said that the free program, held in indoor heated pools, is the perfect opportunity for children to get back in the water ahead of warmer weather.
Councillor Hall notes "we often see participation in water safety and swimming lessons decrease over the cooler months.
"The Kids Alive Do the Five the program is a great no-cost opportunity to freshen up your child's swimming and water safety knowledge and skills ahead of the summer fun."
In June, Brisbane City Council announced that it is to cut entry prices at its swimming pool entry prices to $2 for summer.
Places for the Logan program are limited and registrations are essential. To enrol, enquire or learn more about the program, visit the Logan Leisure Centres website.
