Club Wyndham Denarau Island prepares for December reopening

Club Wyndham Denarau Island prepares for December reopening
November 26, 2021

The award-winning Club Wyndham Denarau Island resort, a vacation club brand of Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific, is counting down to re-opening on 1st December when it will introduce a number of renovations and upgrades.

With international tourism to Fiji set to restart, Club Wyndham Denarau Island General Manager, Kaydee George stated “our team here has been incredibly patient waiting out the COVID-19 outbreak and the tourism downturn, and now we are very excited to be welcoming back our guests.

"We are pleased that we can open all facilities at the resort, including pools and food and beverage outlets, with some COVID-19 restrictions on numbers. I am also confident that the renovations and upgrades that we have made during this closure will help take our resort experience to the next level."

Over the past 18 months Club Wyndham Denarau Island has seen:

• A transformation of pool restaurant and bar, Dua Tale, and its commercial kitchen
• Further work on the Latte Lounge and a new Sugar Shack serving sweet treats at the beachfront
• Replacement of in-room whitegoods in many rooms
• Purchase of an inflatable movie screen for Sunday Dive-in Movie nights
• The addition of new games, including a pool table, giant chess set, Jenga and noughts and crosses
• Refurbishment of its hot pool
• Purchase of new equipment including kayaks and paddleboards for club members to enjoy on a complimentary basis

The resort is ready to unveil a refreshed range of activities, including dive-in-movie nights with a big outdoor screen, kayak and stand up paddle board safaris, photo mementos, basket making, kava demonstrations, coconut leaf weaving, volleyball and Fijian language classes.

Club Wyndham Denarau Island is a timeshare resort utilised by the close to 60,000 members of Club Wyndham South Pacific, one of the region's leading clubs with 52 resorts across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Thailand, Japan, Hawaii and Europe.

Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific announce first Chief Activities Officer
Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific have also announced the appointment of Emma Todd as its first Chief Activities Officer for the Asia Pacific region.

The move is designed to support the company's recent initiative to enhance guest and club member stays with the introduction of a raft of activities at its managed Club Wyndham South Pacific, Wyndham, Wyndham Grand and Ramada by Wyndham resorts.

From e-scooters and e-bikes, to stand-up paddleboards and boogie boards, gold and gem mining, pedal carts and more, more than 100 experiences have been added across the company's resort collection over the past year. Activities are free for Club Wyndham South Pacific members and can be experienced for small fee by resort guests.

Todd, currently the General Manager of Club Wyndham Seven Mile Beach in Hobart, has transformed the property into one of the most popular Club Wyndham resorts in Australia.

She led the establishment of the resort's hobby farm and vegetable garden, along with a billy tea and damper experience held once a week by an open fire. There are also flora and fauna eco walks and e-bike treasure hunts.

Looking forward to her new role, she stated "I am delighted to take on this new and exciting role. It has been wonderful to see such a positive response from our club members and guests since we have introduced the activities.

"The experiences have certainly made our resort stays more memorable. The e-bikes, as just one example, give visitors the chance to better explore the region, and we have chosen additional activities unique to each location. At Club Wyndham Denarau Island in Fiji for instance there is coconut bowling and an aqua tramp. In Ballarat, Victoria, there is a gold and gems sluice among other experiences. So guests can always look forward to something different.”

In her new role, Todd will collaborate with resort managers across 52 resorts in the Asia Pacific region to create, enhance and coordinate activities.

Warren Cullum, Senior Vice President of Hotel and Resort Operations, Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific said, "Emma is the perfect fit for the role with her impressive track record of creating unique activities for our club members and guests. During her time with us, she has earned a reputation for being creative and innovative. We look forward to seeing more exciting initiatives introduced to further enhance guest and club member experiences."
