The Penrith Whitewater Stadium (PWS) is gaining increasing recognition as a venue for corporate teams to bond and work together as one unit while meeting the challenges posed by the rapids.

In turn, this can lead to new skills and insights into solving problems strategically and as a team.

Anyone as young as 12 can experience the thrill and take the challenge of the world-class sized rapids, created by water that flows at a rate fast enough to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool in 55.7 seconds.

Commenting on the venue’s popularity, Penrith Whitewater Stadium Marekting Coordinator Simonetta Lo Po explains “people are becoming more adventurous and setting personal goals to experience new activities like whitewater rafting or kayaking.

“Corporate teams with people of varied ages, fitness levels come here for a challenge. They enjoy the adrenalin-pumping thrills and can select from a moderate to high adventure experience on the rapids.”

“We also host weekend warriors, families, couples, groups, extreme sports enthusiasts and the one thing they all have in common is a sense of fun and adventure.”

“It’s a new experience for most and a memory that will last a lifetime”, Simonetta added.

Developed as the competition venue for the canoe/kayak slalom events during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, PWS is the only one man-made structure in the southern hemisphere designed to replicate a wild river.

The internationally acclaimed PWS course is constructed using both natural and man-made materials and includes a moveable obstacle system to recreate a river’s natural whitewater characteristics.

Each of the six 300kw submersed pumps deliver 2,800 litres of water per second while a conveyor delivers the rafts and kayaks from the finish back up to the start.

All users are accompanied by an experienced river guide and equipped with helmets, buoyancy vests and paddles.
