read moreThrough its Global Wayfinding Programme (GWP), Creative New Zealand has announced that it is to partner with this month’s Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM).
With the GWP seeking opportunities to strengthen artists’ and practitioners’ capability, and international engagement for the New Zealand arts sector, the partnership with APAM’s Gathering event at DreamBIG Festival (running from 14th to 21st May) will support the participation of New Zealand artists.
DreamBIG Festival is one of South Australia’s most loved and longest-running arts events for children, schools, and families, connecting multigenerational audiences through joy and fun.
APAM’s Gathering event at the DreamBIG Festival brings together a collection of virtual and real-life happenings - highlighting the works, ideas and ambitions of Australian and New Zealand artists and companies.
APAM Gatherings happen at established festivals across Australia. By combining Profile, Exchange and full-length public performances, they build more opportunities for collaboration across the performing arts and showcase Australian and New Zealand work.
APAM’s First Timers Programme and First Nations Programme
Through this partnership, Creative New Zealand will also support two places on APAM’s First Timers Programme and First Nations Programme.
First Timers is designed to help first time attendees get the most out of APAM by offering mentoring with key industry consultants and providing them skills to navigate the international market space.
The First Nations Programme brings together a network of indigenous producers to share knowledge, expertise and build connections nationally and internationally. It covers a range of multi-artform markets, key hubs for artistic exchange, and First Nations-to-First Nations networks. Participants will also have the opportunity to hone their market development plans in preparation for the APAM Gathering.
Creative New Zealand also supported Auckland Live’s Bernie Haldane to be part of the Curatorial Panel selecting and reviewing Profile expressions of interests.
APAM is a strategic initiative of the Australia Council for the Arts, designed to showcase Australian and New Zealand contemporary dance, theatre, emerging and experimental arts nationally and internationally.
