read moreA new innovation in amusement park and carnival ride safety is set to enhance and streamline operations in the attractions industry.
Created by Brisbane-based technology company Metrix and its founder Dylan Karaitiana, the digital logbook targets key aspects of operators’ businesses, from staff and asset management to training and compliance with operators who have used the technology reporting substantial improvements in efficiency and safety.
Karaitiana, from a family with generations of experience in amusement operations, states "our approach targets key aspects of an operator’s business, from staff and asset management to training and compliance (and) our solution does everything.
“It’s smart, simple, and streamlined."
Explaining how this innovative tool reshapes the industry and what drove him to create it, Karaitiana comments "I love show business (and) I love tech”, noting that, having witnessed the industry's challenges and gaps firsthand "the solution was well overdue.”
Marking a new era of professionalism in traditional settings, Karaitiana advises that, from the outset, Metrix sought collaboration with top operators to enhance their services further, advising "we started by partnering with the best. We looked for ways to help them improve (and) we’ve now worked with some of the best amusement operators in the country”.
With the impact of Metrix resonating with over 450 amusement operators, he adds "if you’re in this space, our solution will significantly enhance your operations.
"We recognise that smartphones and tablets are not just the future; they are the present. Every operator in the country is on the phone; they should have all their information easily accessible and ready to communicate.”
Aware that introducing change in a tradition-steeped industry is challenging, Karaitiana acknowledges that "Metrix has encountered resistance from operators accustomed to old methods". However, he remains optimistic as more and more operators experience the benefits of modernisation firsthand.
Looking forward, Metrix is deepening its commitment to enhancing staff training and competency, a move Karaitiana believes is crucial for the industry's future.
He goes on to say that "this year is a huge step forward for us and Australian operators" highlighting the anticipated rollout of new features designed to empower staff with better tools and resources. A recent collaboration with the Showmen’s Guild of Australia is a significant aspect of this momentum, which signifies a strategic partnership to broaden its influence and tailor solutions more closely to industry needs.
Welcoming this, he shares “this partnership is about leveraging collective expertise to drive innovation in safety and efficiency across the board.”
By aligning closely with organisations that understand the nuances of the amusement industry, Metrix is better positioned to refine its offerings and address specific challenges operators face.
As for the future, Karaitiana sees that Metrix is not just responding to current trends but actively shaping the future of amusement operations.
He reveals that "we have significant advancements on the horizon”, emphasising that these developments are focused on integrating cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.
This year, Metrix is placing particular focus on expanding their reach through partnerships and enhancing the feature set of their digital solutions to meet the industry's evolving demands.
