Diverse event offerings help Eden Park in delivering strong financial performance

Diverse event offerings help Eden Park in delivering strong financial performance
February 17, 2025

Releasing its 2024 Annual Report Auckland’s Eden Park has advised of having achieved a net operating profit of $3.7 million in the 12 months to 31st October 2024 - exceeding expectations and marking yet another successful year of operations and event diversity.

Eden Park Chief Executive Nick Sautner attributed the stadium’s strong performance to its diverse event offerings and commitment to operational excellence, commenting “this year has been another outstanding year, marked by milestones across sport, music, arts, and community events.

“We witnessed the All Blacks' celebrate 50 consecutive undefeated matches at The Fortress, the Blues' Super Rugby Pacific Championship victory, P!NK making history as our first female headline concert performer, and thousands of New Zealanders coming together to reclaim the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDSTM title for the world's largest haka on our hallowed turf.

“These events reflect our dedication to delivering exceptional experiences for fans, both locally and globally.”

In addition to these milestones, New Zealand’s largest stadium success was internationally recognised when it was named Venue of the Year at the 2024 International StadiumBusiness Awards, surpassing globally renowned venues including Wembley, Croke Park, and Suncorp Stadium.

Sautner noted “as New Zealand's national stadium, Eden Park is uniquely positioned to host major international sporting and entertainment events, making Auckland an attractive destination for world-class events and performers.

“Since 2011, events at Eden Park have contributed over $1 billion in GDP benefits to the wider Auckland region, demonstrating the venue’s vital role in the city’s economic and cultural landscape.”

Looking ahead, Eden Park has already kicked off 2025 by delivering a number of major events, including three Coldplay concerts, two Luke Combs performances, international cricket, and the Blue’s first home game as part of the Super Rugby season. Upcoming events including football, international T20 cricket and two All Blacks matches against the Springboks and Wallabies.

Sautner added “we’re not just a venue - we’re a global stage where unforgettable moments happen every day.

“When global superstars like Luke Combs perform at our national stadium wearing an All Blacks cap, Travis Scott shares our artwork with his 49 million Instagram followers, and Coldplay's Chris Martin jokes about being the only British person at Eden Park not beaten by the All Blacks, it shows Eden Park is much more than a place to watch a game or a concert - every day we're creating unforgettable moments that resonate globally.”

Eden Park continues to advance its Eden Park 2.1 development vision, which has been categorised as a priority one project in the Government's Fast-Track approvals legislation, recognising its strategic importance to New Zealand's economic growth.

Sautner concluded that “as we look to the future, we're committed to building on our successes and strengthening Eden Park and New Zealand's position as a world-class destination for sport, entertainment, and cultural celebration.”
