DreamBody Centre looks at Arabian Gulf expansion in bid to help fight obesity

DreamBody Centre looks at Arabian Gulf expansion in bid to help fight obesity
March 16, 2015

A Bahrain-based fitness centre, which claims to improve clients' health with 23-minute sessions, is looking to expand across the Arabian Gulf to help tackle the region's growing problem with obesity.

Established in 2007, the DreamBody Centre now intends to develop a franchise concept across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations, aiming to open more than 40 centres.

DreamBody Centre founder Suhail Algosaibi explained “with 2.1 billion people overweight or obese worldwide, there is now, more than ever, a greater urgency to tackle this problem.

"Seeing as four out of six GCC states have seen an increase in obesity from 1980 to 2013, there is particular need in the GCC market for a unique weight loss and fitness concept that caters to such an issue.

"The DBC franchise opportunity provides potential investors with exactly that.”

“Not only does the DBC franchise opportunity provide a lucrative business prospect for potential investors, it also addresses a growing health and societal issue here in the GCC.

"We look forward to a fruitful few days at the expo as we introduce the Emirati and wider GCC market to this opportunity which could see 45 DBC outlets opened regionally.”

The DBC is a 23-minute weight loss and fitness centre, based in Bahrain, where members can improve their physique and overall health in just 23 minutes, three to four times a week.

Late last year, the United Arab Emirate Education Ministry introduced healthy nutritional guidelines as part of a drive to reduce on child obesity.

Dubai Health Authority, Director of Clinical Nutrition Dr Wafa Ayesh said that the guidelines will help tackle the problem of childhood obesity by ensuring children have access to nutritional foods every day.

During the current academic year all UAE schools must ensure they follow detailed guidelines to force both suppliers and school canteens to provide healthy foods for school children.
