Auckland’s Eden Park is offering the chance to have a match of cricket this weekend on the exact wicket the New Zealand and Indian international teams will play on this Friday.

The ‘money-can-buy’ experience will include four hours of access to the wicket at New Zealand’s largest stadium for a T20 cricket match on an international standard wicket prepared by Eden Park’s award-winning turf team.

The experience will also offer players the chance to take a break in the official changing rooms and form their winning game plan while allowing use of the venue’s super screens and LEDs to ensure a real match-day experience.

Being offered by auction on the Trade Me website, the starting price for the experience is sitting at $5,000, to take place from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday 9th February.

An explanatory note on the experience states “Eden Park’s intimate setting and fan friendly boundaries make for one of the best cricket atmospheres in the world. Eden Park’s design guarantees an unmatched cricket experience for fans at the ground or for those watching at home.

“Thousands of tourists from across the globe join our daily tours each year at Eden Park to get close to our revered turf that has witnessed some of the world’s most memorable sporting moments. We field countless requests to access the hallowed turf and this is the first time an international cricket wicket is being made available to everyday Kiwis.

“(The game) wouldn’t be a complete Eden Park experience if there wasn’t great hospitality available, so we’ll make sure our chefs are ready to fix your hunger after you’ve belted sixes all afternoon with a $2,000 food and beverage voucher.”
