read moreEvent Cinemas has launched Event Junior, an immersive experience specially designed for children - with the first Event Junior opened yesterday at Event Macquarie and Event Shellharbour.
Set to be rolled out in key locations across Australia, Event Junior, designed in collaboration with children, is a family-friendly experience featuring an in-cinema playground complete with a slide, a netted climbing gym, digital interactive games and other play equipment.
Following the recent successful launch of Event Boutique, Event Junior is the latest in a raft of innovations from Australia’s largest cinema group, delivering on Event Cinemas’ vision to offer customers a world of experiences under one roof.
The new concept has been designed to offer carers with young children a range of experiences to suit their needs including; Dedicated Play-time Only Sessions which offer an alternative daytime activity for those with young ones; Playtime Sessions with a Movie which combine 30 minutes of extra playtime followed by a family friendly feature film; and Movie Only Sessions, which are tailored movie sessions that include a 10-minute play intermission.
Dedicated Playtime Only Sessions cost just $5 per child and caregivers are free, while Playtime Sessions with a Movie are available at standard ticket prices and can be upgraded with 30-minutes of playtime before the movie starts for an extra $5 per child.
Beyond the play area, the entire movie-going experience has been tailored to suit children 8 years and younger with atmospheric light and modified sound, along with a 10 minute intermission allowing children to enjoy a short playtime or bathroom break. During the film, children can relax in a new range of friendly daybeds and colourful sofa bean bags.
A bespoke Event Junior menu is also on offer with a range of dedicated child-friendly snacks including junior popcorn combos, muesli bars, childrens’ ice-cream, yoghurt and fresh fruit; as well as coffee, tea and snack options for caregivers.
Luke Mackey, Director of Entertainment, Event Cinemas advised "our research tells us that our customers value unique experiences. We recognise that for people with young children, it can be a challenge to find fun, affordable activities to do - which led us to create Event Junior, designed by kids especially for kids. Event Junior features a playground at the front of the cinema, which has been tried and tested by children to ensure that the experience delivers. This is about creating a relaxed environment where kids can chase, jump, bounce, play and if they wish, add a movie.
“Whether enjoying a playtime only session, adding a movie or hosting a birthday party, Event Junior is safe and affordable activity that is a complete sensory experience for kids, with the added benefit of being comfortable for carers”.
There are three ways to enjoy Event Junior:
• Dedicated Playtime Only Sessions – dedicated play time only sessions are bookable via eventcinemas.com.au for $5 per child (2 years and older), which includes a regular coffee or water for the caretaker*.
• Playtime Sessions with a Movie: Standard ticket prices apply for all sessions. Enhance the experience with 30 minutes of extra playtime before the movie for just $5 per child.
• Movie Only Sessions: Standard ticket prices apply for all sessions and Cinebuzz members receive great value offers. Movie only sessions include playtime during the play intermission.
The Event Junior experience can also be booked for private screenings for children’s birthday parties.
Leaders in cinematic experiences, Event Cinemas is home to premium Gold Class and designer Boutique, big-screen V-Max, multi-sensory 4DX, luxurious Daybeds, and now Event Junior, offering a cinema experience for everyone to truly escape and immerse in film.
