Fitness and Lifestyle Group has today announced the sale of the franchise division of its Jetts Fitness 24/7 gym business via Management Buy Out.

The sale, led by Jetts Fitness Australia Chief Executive Elaine Jobson (pictured above), encompasses 129 franchised clubs in Australia as well as international franchise businesses in the UK and the Netherlands.

Fitness and Lifestyle Group retains full ownership of its Jetts Fitness brand and operations in New Zealand, Vietnam and Thailand, where the brand is already market leader by number of clubs.

FLG Group Chief Executive Greg Oliver advised “we continue to invest significant resources in the growth of Jetts Fitness across the APAC markets of Thailand, Vietnam and New Zealand.

“The sale of the franchise business will allow Elaine’s team to move forward with its own independent expansion strategy.”

Jobson notes “I’ve always seen our Jetts franchise model as unique within the FLG portfolio, so when the Group presented us with the opportunity to purchase the business, we immediately saw it as a fantastic opportunity - a chance to focus on growing our brand through franchise as well as our own corporately owned clubs in our new generation design.

“This is an exciting new chapter for my team and I as we continue to deliver high-quality training facilities, all staffed by incredible teams who are committed to helping our members live a better life.

“For our high-performing support office, who deliver exceptional franchisee assistance to our network, it will be business as usual with minimal disruption from this MBO.”

Jetts Fitness is an Australian company that has grown to over 250 clubs worldwide and was awarded the 13th Best Place to Work in Australia in 2021 and seventh in 2022.

Established in 2016, FLG now has more than 400 clubs and over 660,000 members with a portfolio of globally recognised brands including Fitness First Australia, Goodlife Health Clubs Australia, Barry’s, Jetts Fitness New Zealand | Thailand | Vietnam, Zap Fitness and California Fitness and Yoga.

In creating the Fitness and Lifestyle Group, Quadrant Private Equity acquired Jetts in September 2016 in a deal worth a reported $100 million.
