The Canberra Water Polo Academy has announced that global pool and wellness solutions leader Fluidra has taken on the naming rights sponsorship for the inaugural 2025 Australia Cup International Water Polo Tournament.

Aiming to bolster opportunities for emerging and elite water polo players throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, the tournament, set to run from 21st to 24th January at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra, will attract teams from Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Designed to provide high-level competition with reduced financial and resource commitments, the Australia Cup lays the foundation for a second-tier league, creating a new pathway for clubs aiming to reach the elite Australian Water Polo League (AWL).

Welcoming the sponsorship, Tournament Convenor Matt Turnbull stated “the Australia Cup will fill a critical gap in the performance pathway for emerging players, particularly in that crucial period when we often see high dropout rates.

“Our partnership with Fluidra allows us to keep entry fees low, ensuring that more teams can afford to compete.”

Fluidra, as naming rights sponsor, is enthusiastic about supporting this pivotal development in Australian water polo. Known worldwide for its contributions to water polo events, Fluidra’s backing will make the Australia Cup a reality, adding international flair and fostering the sport's growth in emerging regions.

As a key supplier of water polo products in Australia, this partnership is a natural fit for us.”

Tournament Convenor Matt Turnbull and Tournament Ambassador, Olympic Silver Medallist Alice Williams, formalised the sponsorship at a contract signing held at Fluidra’s headquarters and manufacturing facility in Brisbane.

Fluidra’s SwimWall success
Fluidra Commercial Project Manager, Adrian Schruhm has also taken to social media to advise that the company has now supplied over 50 of its Australian made SwimWalls to aquatic facilities around the country.

Designed to create programable space within large pools, the latest SwimWall and rollers for new Sunbather Pool Heating blankets were installed at the Fawkner Leisure Centre in Melbourne’s north.

Leading in aquatic facility programming products Fluidra not only supply SwimWalls but also offer moveable bulkheads and moveable floors.
