read moreMelbourne and Olympic Parks has announced that respected sport and venue administrator Andrew Travis will join its Executive team as Director of Infrastructure, responsible for overseeing the comprehensive redevelopment of Melbourne Park.
Commenting on the appointment of the former Gold Coast Suns Chief Executive, Melbourne and Olympic Parks (M&OP) Chief Executive Brian Morris said Travis’ arrival coincided with the recent Victorian Budget funding announcement of $271.55 million to advance the next stage of redevelopment, which will ensure the precinct remains the home of the Australian Open for many years to come.
Morris stated “this funding, combined with the current major redevelopment of the iconic Rod Laver Arena, brings an exciting opportunity for Andrew to lead and shape the future of our vastly expanded portfolio of assets and their operation.
“Andrew brings to the role a wealth of expertise following his role in leading the development of Metricon Stadium, as well as his track record in building positive team cultures at professional AFL clubs and venues.
“He was also involved in the development of M&OP’s own AAMI Park, and we are delighted to welcome him back into the fold.”
Travis will commence with M&OP on Monday 22nd May.
