Criminal gangs may be gearing up for a blitz on Australian and New Zealand festivals and concerts over the summer season.

AAC ID Solutions have highlighted concerns that about these gangs following the discovery of very sophisticated forged tickets and wristbands around Europe.

In a press release, AAC ID Solutions suggest that "there is evidence that the gangs have compromised factories in China where certain wristbands are believed to be made in order to produce almost exact replicas.

"Leading experts in the UK have also revealed that around 800 fake tickets for the Reading festival were discovered (and with) summer seeing the beginning of the large festival season in Australia, (AAC ID Solutions is concerned that Australia) is a potential target for these gangs."

Robert Borg of AAC ID Solutions explains "some Australian festival and events organisers compromise their security by purchasing cheap imitations from suppliers that source products from China.

"The quality of some of the Chinese products are not up to the standard that festivals should be using.

"Further, the integrity of many suppliers in China is in question as the suppliers pass information on to second parties who then copy the product and sell them to the market. AAC ID Solutions only offer the highest quality and security wristbands by researching the latest technologies and by aligning themselves with suppliers from all over the world that have proven security measures in place to ensure the integrity of their products.

"We also offer several security features in our wristbands which make them extremely difficult to reproduce."

Fake wristbands can pose many problems for festival organisers and loss of revenue is the least of the problems as often these concerts are sold out long in advance. Problems include issues such as admittance of underage participants to drinking areas, overcrowding, drugs, theft, and pick pocketers.
