read moreLeading US-based fitness club operator Gold's Gym has announced plans to open a minimum of 50 gyms over the next 10 years in a parnership with discount nutritional supplements supplier Aussie Supplements.
The partnership to open new, state-of-the-art gyms marks the largest non-US development agreement in the near-50 year history of Gold’s Gym. Signed at the end of 2013, the agreement followed the opening of Gold's Gym locations in the ACT suburbs of Fyshwick and Gungahlin. It will soon see the opening of a new Gold’s Gym in Wollongong.
In a statement Gold’s Gym advised that the Fyshwick and Gungahlin locations, which opened in March and June of 2013 respectively, “are already proving the strength of Gold's Gym in this region of the world.
“The deal targets a market in which Gold's Gym is already well-known and well-respected, a testament to the global reach of the brand.
“With this precedent set, new locations will have a firm foundation from which to build the brand's presence in Australia for years to come.”
Leigh Taylforth, Master Franchisee for Australia also stated "the Gold's Gym name is well known throughout Australia. With a brand as synonymous with fitness as Gold's Gym, we are very confident that we will be hugely successful."
Gold’s Gym Senior Vice President for Franchising and International Tim Hicks concluded “we could not be more thrilled to be expanding in Australia with this 10 year agreement.
"We are excited to bring to the Australian market the high caliber of service and commitment Gold's Gym is known for both stateside and across the world, from our best-in-class trainers to our top-of-the-line equipment and facilities."
Established in Venice, California, USA in 1965, Gold's Gym is one of the most recognised gym chain in the world with more than 650 locations in 37 states and 28 countries. With nearly three million members worldwide, Gold's Gym helps all kinds of people achieve their individual potential through fitness.
