Hockey NSW Indoor State Championships expected to deliver $3.5 million to Goulburn economy

Goulburn Mulwaree Council in partnership with Hockey NSW is once again hosting the Hockey NSW Indoor State Championships with the event expected to bring economic value of approximately $3.5 million dollars to the region.

Over the duration of the Championships, Goulburn will host more than 120 teams along with their families and officials.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council Mayor Peter Walker enthused “we are delighted to welcome these teams and their families to Goulburn over the coming months, as this has a significant economic benefit to our City and the region.

“Events of this calibre showcase our region’s world class facilities and further cement Goulburn’s reputation as a premiere sporting destination.”

The Championships continued over 9th to 11th December when the Under 18 Girls’ teams took to the pitch at Veolia Arena, Goulburn.

A total of 20 teams from across NSW including Central Coast, Illawarra South Coast, Orange, Parkes, Newcastle, Manning Valley, Bathurst, Port Macquarie, Southern Highlands, Sydney and Goulburn competed.

The Championships began on 28th October 2022 with the Open Men’s Division, where Illawarra South Coast 1 defeated Metro South West 1. This was followed by the Open Women’s Division where three gold medal matches were held with Dubbo 2, Central Coast 1 and Illawarra South Coast 1 all taking home gold.

The Under 18 Boy’s Championships were held from 2nd to 4th December and saw Manning Valley and Illawarra South Coast 1 come out on top in their respective gold medal matches.

The Championships continued over 9th to 11th December when the Under 18 Girls’ teams took to the pitch at Veolia Arena, Goulburn.

Following the Under 18 Girl’s Championships, the Men’s Masters will be held from 3rd –5th February 2023 and the Women’s Masters from 10th–12th February 2023.
