With less than a month until one of the world's biggest popstars, P!nk, brings her Summer Carnival tour to Townsville, local businesses are being encouraged to think of ways to feed, accommodate and entertain more than 40,000 visitors.
P!nk is set to light up the stage at Queensland Country Bank Stadium as she closes out her Australian tour in Townsville on 22nd and 23rd March – marking the largest event of its kind ever held in Townsville.
Overwhelming demand for tickets saw P!NK’s Summer Carnival 2024 Australia/New Zealand Tour expand to include the only regional spot at Townville’s Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
Live Nation Australia, President, Roger Field added “P!NK's Aussie shows sold out in minutes across the country, making the tour extension into North Queensland an exciting next step in meeting this unprecedented demand.
Townsville City Council noted "P!nk's tour is expected to inject about $38 million into the local economy.
"This is a huge opportunity for our city and our businesses to show Australia and the world that Townsville knows how to put on big events.
"Council has committed to fast-tracking extended trading hours and outdoor trading permits to enable businesses to maximise the benefits of large events.
"We've already heard from Sealink who have committed to decorating their terminal pink and offering discounted ferry rides to anyone with a Pink ticket around the time of the concert.
"Cbar will have a Pink menu and the Commonwealth Hotel is offering bus services to the stadium on concert nights.
"Being able to attract an artist of Pink's calibre to Townsville is huge and it helps to support future industries, further enhances our world-class liveability and helps cement Townsville as a destination that embraces the arts, sports, events and recreational activities."
Townsville Enterprise Chief Executive Claudia Brumme-Smith said they want to see Townsville North Queensland turn pink in celebration of the popstar's arrival and has encouraged businesses to decorate and activate their shops and businesses during the event.
"We have recently launched our Eventify portal, which allows businesses to share what they are doing for major events like P!nk coming to Townsville," Brumme-Smith shared.
"Businesses can put details of what they're offering, which could be anything from a Pink-inspired burger to a Pink-inspired cocktail through to a Pink-inspired holiday package.
"The platform allows all these ideas to be consolidated to help Townsville Enterprise and its partners promote what the city has to offer."
Produced by Live Nation, the Australian tour follows P!NK’s recently concluded 21-city UK/European tour and her current 23-city North American/Canadian tour which ran until 9th October 2023.
Live Nation Australia Chairman and P!NK’s career-long promoter, Michael Coppel shared “Only fitting that we break new ground with the record to be set at her first show in Northern Queensland at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.”
Visit the Townsville Enterprise website to find out more about the Eventify portal and how it can support sharing business activation with the community and visitors.
