read moreThe International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities’ (IAKS) collaboration with 2024 National Sports and Physical Activity Convention (NSC) will see the Germany-based body offer a series of Study Trips in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in late June and early July.
Aimed largely at international delegates attending the NSC but also open to Australian and New Zealand professionals, the 2024 IAKS Study Trip Australia will offer an immersive learning experience in sport and recreation, showcasing a blend of traditional and modern facilities, cultural landmarks, and community engagement activities.
With three tour options in the period between 25th June and 4th July, participants in the Study Trip will have the flexibility to choose from various options across the eastern states of Australia, with the opportunity to explore different aspects of sport and recreation in major cities.
Melbourne - 25th to 28th June
With NSC being held on 27th and 28th June 2024, the Melbourne component of the tour will run from 25th to 28th June.
Discussing architecture, technology use and fan engagement, the Study Trip will include site to traditional and modern aquatic, entertainment and sports venues including Melbourne Olympic Park, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Rod Laver Arena, John Cain Arena, AAMI Park and the Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre
The tour will also include attendance at an Architects Forum and the IAKS Network drinks and dinner.
It will also feature attendance at a National Rugby League State of Origin game at the MCG.

Sydney - 29th June to 1st July
To include a walk in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, the IAKS Study Trip Australia will offer a combination of educational sessions and site visits to Manly Beach, Coogee to Bondi walk, Heffron Sports Hub, Moore Park with Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium, Howe2Golf, Sydney Olympic Park (with Aquatic Centre, Athletics Centre, Hockey Centre, Archery Centre, and Accor Stadium) and the Parramatta Aquatic Centre

Brisbane and the Gold Coast - 2nd and 3rd July
Visiting the host city of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the tour will include visits to the Gabba, Suncorp Stadium, Sleeman Aquatic Centre, Brisbane Lions AFLW High Performance Centre, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Pimpana Sporting Hub and the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.
