Opened at the end of November last year and aiming to enhance exercisers' workout experience all machines have been upgraded to the latest models from Matrix, including pin-loaded strength machines, free weights and cardio.
The enhanced group fitness experience offers Les Mills programs - with Les Mills SMARTBAR for BODYPUMP enthusiasts - along with Matrix spin bikes.
Multi-purpose flooring from PLAE has been installed, with high grip-technology engineered for the toughest of workouts while dedicated stretch and HIIT zones feature a synthetic indoor turf, that is durable and assists to achieve peak performance.
Since opening in 2007, the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre (ITAC) has attracted more than eight million visits.
Built in Ultimo under a City of Sydney planning policy to provide community-based facilities in strategic municipal precincts, the aquatic centre is located on the corner of Harris and William Henry streets, across the road from the Powerhouse Museum.
Refurbishments to the fitness facilities at two other City of Sydney facilities have also been undertaken in recent months: the Cook and Phillip Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre and the Victoria Park Pool.
The projects were managed by Belgravia Leisure Regional Fitness Manager Justin O'Neil.
