Developers have unveiled plans for a massive indoor snow attraction in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh.

The Al Othaim Investment and Real Estate Development Company has secured a 15-year lease for a 10,693 metre2 space at the Al Qasr mixed-use project in Riyadh, currently being developed by Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development Company.

The snow park will anchor the leisure zone at the Al Qasr and will be the first of its kind in the country.

Due to open later this year, the attraction will offer an indoor ski slope, an ice sculpture park and other snow-related activities.

The 816,000 metre2 Al Qasr project comprises 317,500 metre2 of commercial and leisure space; 359,000 metre2 of residential buildings, designed to house 13,000 people; and 34,500 metre2 of office space and six mosques.

Yousef Al-Shalash, Chair of Dar Al Arkan, said that Al Othaim's expertise in the amusement business and running attractions makes it a "perfect partner" for the project.

Al-Shalash explained "signing this agreement with Al Othaim company, which stands as a major amusement provider, underlies Dar Al Arkan efforts to attract large companies to invest in Alqasr Mall, serve the inhabitants of Alqasr project and adjacent districts, and boost the ambitions of shoppers and visitors."

The Al Qasr Mall development also includes an indoor amusement park.
