Inner West Council launches new Fitness Pass to harmonise all facility services
September 13, 2022

Sydney’s Inner West Council has launched its news Fitness Pass giving residents access to five aquatic and fitness centres on one universal card.

The Inner West Fitness Pass is being launched following the Annette Kellerman and Fanny Durack aquatic centres being brought in house as part of a combined fitness and aquatics system.

The Inner West Fitness Pass is part of an on-going investment in public pools as essential social infrastructure in the Inner West.

Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne advised “when Annette Kellerman (Marrickville) and Fanny Durack Aquatic Centres (Petersham) recently came back under Council management, we had an opportunity to harmonise all aquatic services.

“At a time when many Councils are walking away from public pools, here in the Inner West we’re taking the opposite approach.

“We’ve rebuilt Ashfield Aquatic Centre and completed the award-winning restoration of Dawn Fraser Baths.

“We now have five magnificent facilities and Inner West Fitness Pass holders can access all five aquatic centres and gyms on one universal card.”

Council’s aquatics facilities attract about two million visits a year. They host a large and diverse range of programs for all age groups including:

  • Seniors’ programs
  • Recreational and lap swimming
  • Group fitness
  • NDIS and special needs programs
  • Creche facilities
  • Learn to swim
  • School carnivals
  • Water polo and swimming clubs training and events
  • Special events, such as Trans and Gender Diverse Swims
