read moreSpeakers from football giants Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers and NBA management are now confirmed for the upcoming 'Fan and Participant Engagement in the Digital Age' conference.
Sport Research Group has announced that ten international speakers will be addressing the event to be held in Sydney on 13th and 14th July.
Sport Research Groupâs Chief Executive, Simon Arkwright said that the majority of those presentations will be in the form of case studies. On Arkwright's calculations, "details and examples will be given at the conference about the social media and digital marketing experiences of over 20 globally recognized brands and teams."
Arkwright added that the conference very much addresses the whole spectrum of social media.
For example, Shane Harmon from Rugby NZ 2011 is talking about how Facebook is being used to as a key part of the off-shore ticketing strategy for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Dan Harbison from the Portland Trail Blazers will provide details of www.iamatrailblazersfan.com the first Web 2.0 site across all four major leagues. Arkwright said that Trail Blazers were using Twitter long before celebrities and sports stars.
Similarly, Real Madrid's Pedro Duarte will discuss how the club has established a global mobile community while Tottenham Hotspur's Paul Barber will detail how the club has used both social and mobile to monetarise its supporter base. In addition The NBA's Kirsten Corio's will provide details of how the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Hornets and the Knicks are all using mobile as a sponsorship activation tool.
