read moreThe planned multi-million dollar upgrade of Jenolan Caves and the historic Caves House will help it to retain its place as one of Australia's iconic tourism destinations, according to peak national body, Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF).
TTF National Manager, Tourism, Evan Hall, said the investment is very welcome, explaining "Jenolan Caves is a spectacular and unique attraction, and this upgrade is a strong step towards returning it to its former glory.
"Today's call for expressions of interest to operate the hospitality facilities at Caves House represents a rare opportunity.
"Private sector expertise is essential to ensure that this nature-based tourism opportunity can be maximised, while improved accommodation and visitor facilities will entice people from around the world to immerse themselves in this world-heritage listed national park, which has already been recognised as one of Australia's iconic National Landscapes.
"The successful company should be one with a strong brand and reputation, and the skills necessary to manage a property such as this.
"The operator must focus on improving customer service and marketing Jenolan Caves as a 'must-see' attraction.
"That will help keep the business growing, stimulating economic activity and providing job opportunities for people in the region.
"TTF is pleased that the (NSW) Government is open to ideas from the private sector about how the Jenolan precinct could continue to deliver iconic nature-based experiences for the region into the future."
