Kidsafe (the Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia) has announced details of the 2014 National Playspace Design Awards.

The Awards recognise excellence and innovation in the provision of safe, creative playspaces across Australia and are open to service providers, design professionals, students, landscape contractors and playground providers in all sectors. 

Presenting a great opportunity to showcase current playspace design and development achievements, the Awards aim to promote inspirational and innovative best practice play facilities and encourage healthy participation in recreational activities for all children. 

The Awards are presented in the following categories:

Education and Care Services
• Preschool
• Long day care
• Out of school hours care/vacation care
• Family day care

Schools
• Public and private schools
• Primary and high schools

Public Playspaces
• Category A: Playspaces up to $500,000
• Category B: Playspaces $500,000 - $1 million
• Category C: Playspaces $1 million upwards

Innovative Design Elements
Areas including:
• Sound items
• Shade
• sandpit covers
• Sculptural pieces

Entries must reflect playspaces that:
• Have been installed/constructed since September 2012;
• Are currently open for use;
• Have not been submitted for previous Kidsafe National Playspace Design Awards.

Entries close at 5pm AEST on Friday 29th August 2014.
