read moreAn investment from the Victorian Government’s Regional Tourism Investment Fund, is supporting a new shopping and hospitality village for Kinglake, along with a new walking trail that is anticipated to attract more visitors to Victoria’s High Country.
To be anchored by a new town square, the Kinglake Village project will include a local micro-brewery and a destination café.
The Berrbang Biik Trail will offer visitors a chance to immerse themselves in Kinglake’s natural beauty. The name Berrbang Biik means ‘Connection to Country’: a name chosen in collaboration with the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.
The project will also deliver a ‘Locals Lane’ featuring studios for local makers and producers to showcase and sell their products.
The new Berrbang Biik walking trail will be an approximately 1.8m-long loop starting and returning from the new town square, welcoming people of all ages and abilities to a stunning part of Australian countryside that has up to now been inaccessible to the public. The trail will be constructed around the Village, leading to picnic spots and picturesque lookouts boasting views of Melbourne’s skyline and Fairy Falls.
Visitors will be able to follow up a walk with a freshly-brewed coffee or beer, ─ complementing Kinglake’s already promising range of world-class experiences, only 60 minutes from the Melbourne CBD.
Kinglake is a gateway to Victoria’s High Country and the transformation is set to encourage tourists to stay longer and explore the region, while creating a special place for the local community and visitors alike.
The construction is expected to begin in the coming months, with a grand opening of Kinglake Village and the Berrbang Biik trail expected in late 2024.
