One of the highlights of the weekend's Australian Fitness and Health Expo at Darling Harbour was Leisure Concepts Australia's presentation of their recent partnership with Merrithew Health & Fitness and its premier brand, STOTT PILATES.

STOTT PILATES has earned an international reputation as the world's most respected Pilates brand for fitness professionals and facility operators, with STOTT PILATES' versatile system of training, programming, equipment and support yielding solid results.

Leisure Concepts Australia's distributorship is for STOTT PILATES' commercial equipment, DVD's and training manuals throughout Australia.

The growth in facilities offering Pilates training is a result of increasing interest in this fitness activity. In a worldwide survey conducted by the American Council of Sports Medicine's Health and Fitness Journal, Pilates ranked ninth on a list of the top 20 fitness trends for 2010. With the popularity of this form of exercise having grown by more than 600 per cent in some markets, there is a growing need for trained, quality instructors. Beyond assisting with general fitness and well-being, Pilates is also an effective form of exercise for such purposes as rehabilitation, athletic conditioning, dancing, prenatal fitness, and active aging.
