ExerciseNZ advise that “the Supreme Club of the Year award represents the pinnacle of excellence in the exercise industry, selected from the winners of four facility categories - chain/group, franchise, independent and studio - to honour the best overall facility in New Zealand.”
This year, Les Mills Christchurch was crowned the Supreme Club of the Year at the 2024 Exercise New Zealand Industry Awards, with ExerciseNZ President, Richard Beddie advising that the award is “a testament to its outstanding dedication to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and high-performing fitness community.”
In making the award, judges commented “if you could describe the perfect circle of what a fitness facility should offer it would be Les Mills Christchurch. The care they provide from the very first contact of someone's journey to their well-balanced touch points along the way really does set people up for success. If you lose your way you’ll be greeted with well-crafted cheeky “we miss you message.
“All communications are well-crafted that leaves you with a smile on your face and a sense of fun you can tell is embedded into the brand and culture.
“From their unique fist-bump culture, inspired by the Canterbury Crusaders, to their dynamic member engagement strategies, Les Mills Christchurch sets itself apart as a hub for connection, care, and excellence.”
Recognising that the club thrives on innovation and personalisation, ensuring every member feels welcome and supported, judges noted “the automation vs. personal systems in place allows for a personal experience and autonomy to manage your membership from your own member portal.”
Les Mills Christchurch has had measurable success, with a 12% increase in memberships and a record-breaking attendance in 2024. One final comment from the judges commends them on their key focus not necessarily being the facility, but more so the people.
Judges went on to say “Les Mills Christchurch have really worked hard on making it easy for their members with their variety fitness offering, the quality of their fitness facility, amazing location (with free car parking in a central city), free Wi-Fi and more.
“But over and above that it’s the passion and care from their submission that showcased it’s not just about the physical facility it’s about the people…. He tāngata he tāngata he tāngata.”
Bedia added “at ExerciseNZ, we celebrate the exceptional commitment and dedication of Les Mills Christchurch in promoting health and well-being among its members.
“This unwavering effort has earned them the prestigious title of Supreme Facility at the 2024 Exercise Industry Awards.
“These awards play a crucial role in highlighting the remarkable contributions of individuals and organisations across Aotearoa, while reinforcing the importance of exercise as a cornerstone for improving overall health and well-being.”
