read moreLes Mills continues to support the population’s health and fitness during these challenging times, by providing on-demand access to the world’s most popular workouts, to Mastercard® cardholders in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand.
Named the ‘Best At-Home Workout for 2020’ in the USA Today Readers’ Choice Awards, LES MILLS On Demand is an app and web-based streaming service that enables people to access the world’s most popular group exercise classes at home. And under this offer, Mastercard cardholders will receive a special trial period and discount off the standard monthly subscription rate.
Les Mills Asia Pacific Chief Operating Officer, Hylton advises “It’s a timely offering, considering global research continues to note a boom in popularity for Virtual and on-demand training.”
Hylton is referring to findings such as those from MindBody, which found that 73% of members used on-demand video in 2020 (compared to 17% in 2019), and 85% of members used weekly live-stream classes in 2020 (compared to 7% in 2019). Beachbody on Demand found that in the US, 9 out of 10 regular exercisers said they'd continue with at-home workouts even after they feel comfortable returning to a gym in the future. MindBody research also suggests that 46%t of customers intended to combine both at-home and in-club memberships when the pandemic is over. This is reiterated in the findings that 75% of those who use LES MILLS On Demand also attend live classes.
“Given this type of data, it’s not surprising that 'Online Training' was rated as the ACSM's number one trend in 2021 with 'Virtual Training' at number six; interestingly, previously neither of these ranked in the Top 20,” adds Hylton.
