read moreLeading South Korean theme park Lotte World is to launch a new 3,500 metre2 entrance featuring long-flowing ticketing desks as part of an upgrade to its entry experience.
Designed by the Goddard Group, the new entrance has been designed to present guests with an experience similar to checking into a luxury hotel rather than a visitor attraction.
Replacing Lotte World's existing entrance, which has been left almost untouched since the park's opening in 1989, the ticketing desks are described as being representative of a dream-like garden.
Explaining the concept, Goddard Group Director of Design Taylor Jeffs stated "by its nature, a theme park's entrance is generally chaotic, so our primary goal is to organise the chaos and put guests in the right mood.
"The entrance will employ several sensory elements, with smells, sounds and mood-lighting all playing a role.
"Not only will the development improve consumers' experiences, it will also be of financial and logistical benefit to the park."
Lotte World spokesperson Ashley Choi adds "as part of the re-development, we're doubling the number of ticketing stations available for our guests, in addition to increasing our turnstile capacity by over 30%."
On top of its standard ticket, Lotte World is also introducing a higher priced premium ticket enabling guest to skip the regular queueing lines at the park's most popular rides and attractions through access to a separate line with a shorter wait time at each participating attraction.
The system is similar to one already operating at Universal Studios Singapore.
