The Victorian Government is backing Phillip Island to appeal to even more visitors with the announcement of two new attractions, each funded with $1.2 million from the billion dollar Regional Growth Fund.

The Nobbies and Summerland Peninsula tourism expansion is a unique project that will establish two new attractions on Phillip Island – a World Wide Fund for Nature state-of-the-art multimedia interpretative display and a new Eco Boat Tour located in Cowes.

Introducing the new attractions, Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events Louise Asher stated "these additional tourist attractions will add value to the local economy, with a further 25,000 visitors each year expected to book an Eco Boat Tour, which will include trained educational guides."

Minister Asher said local company Wildlife Coast Cruises will run the Eco Boat Tour, adding "along with the Penguin Parade, Koala Conservation Centre and Churchill Island Heritage Farm, the Nobbies and Summerland Peninsula Tourism Expansion will further increase the region's unique nature-based experiences.

"The partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature is the first of its type in Australia, and reinforces the excellence of the conservation and tourism activities offered by the Phillip Island Nature Park."

The Nobbies Centre, once known as the Seal Rocks Sea Life Centre, features educational displays, cafe, children's play area, and gift shop. A network of boardwalks outside the centre overlook Seal Rocks, The Nobbies, and The Blowhole.
