Melbourne Royal Show set for September return with major live music program

Set to return at the end of September after a two-year absence, the Melbourne Royal Show has revealed a partnership with Live Nation to deliver a live music program of major acts including The Veronicas, Baker Bay and Havana Brown.

Live Nation will curate The Show After Dark live music program that will feature 11 nights of live music from major Australian acts starting on Saturday 22nd September and running until Sunday 2nd October, with one artist to play a set of their greatest hits each night.

Also featuring Sneaky Sound System, British India and Motor Ace, the addition to the Show program aims to crowds at the Melbourne Showgrounds after dark, the promotion also aims to attract a more diverse audience.

Brad Jenkins, Chief Executive of Show organiser the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), noted “we are super excited that the Melbourne Royal Show is back in 2022 and to celebrate we are amplifying the entertainment value and introducing The Show After Dark live music program curated by Live Nation.

“With the support of Live Nation, we are thrilled to present some of Australia’s best established and up-and-coming musical talent to perform at the 2022 Melbourne Royal Show for Victorians to enjoy.”

Live Nation General Manager, Damian Costin added “here at Live Nation we are all about celebrating home-grown talent and are excited to work with Melbourne Royal to bring the best of Australia’s live scene to the Show for the first time.”

The offering in the new entertainment precinct will also include Airtime FMX and Show favourite, Grand Illusionist Cosentino, alongside an laser light show and plethora of food and beverage offerings.

In 2018, the RASV introduced major live music acts with a performance by Jimmy Barnes.

Show organisers have also announced a range of new and returning partners for the event.

Woolworths and Coca-Cola have returned as principal partners, with agricultural equipment brand, Kubota also joining the principal partner tier for 2022.

New deals have been struck with SushiHub, Best Friends Pets, Live Nation, TAC, Metro Trains, LifeWise Pet Food, Pentavite, Solar Victoria and Cirka.

Agriculture Victoria, Spotlight and Coffex have also renewed their partnerships with the RASV.

New sponsor, SushiHub, will activate its arrangement in a new food zone dubbed the Graze, where it will be joined by petting operator, Animal Farmyard.

Starting on 22nd September, the Show is expected to attract about 500,000 visitors.
